Fugitive Emissions Compliance Programs

Beacon Energy Services has extensive experience in air quality regulations. These regulations require that many companies maintain a Fugitive Emissions Monitoring and Reporting Program, also known as Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) Programs. These programs are designed to limit the amount of hydrocarbon emissions that can escape into the atmosphere from various operating equipment including valves, flanges, pumps, and other components. The LDAR Programs also set forth the criteria for leak repair and record keeping.
Since hydrocarbon leaks can rarely be seen or heard, LDAR programs employ the use of Flame Ionized Detectors (FID) or Photo Ionized Detectors (PID) to identify leaks that range from near ambient air readings to as much as 100,000 parts per million (ppm).
A good LDAR Program starts with a written plan defining the program requirements and methods used to ensure air quality compliance with regulatory agency rules. The written plan includes an accurate inventory of the components to be inspected, the inspection method, and frequency. Beacon can develop written plans and complete new inventories or update existing inventories for many different types and sizes of facilities.
Once the inventory is complete, Beacon Energy Services can perform inspections and work with facility operations staff to make any necessary repairs. Beacon offers excellent reporting programs using both customized Fugitive Emissions Programs or standard spreadsheet formats for report preparation. Beacon will complete the LDAR reports for submittal to regulatory agencies and work with our clients to ensure that all the required records are maintained in their company files.
Whether you are designing your LDAR Program or have an existing program in place, Beacon Energy Services can assist you in managing the program with our proven experience. This experience includes working with clients and regulatory agencies throughout the western United States.
